Limited Third addresses the effects of active shooter drills on children in the school system.
Those who have not experienced an active shooter drill may have assumptions on how the experience would make these children feel, but they have a limited third-person point of view for this situation. A third-person point of view is a literary term referring to a narrative style in which the audience only has access to one character’s thoughts and feelings, leaving them in the dark for how the other characters may feel or think. Children and staff who have experienced the school system during a time of gun violence and shooter training have a first-person perspective on the issue. This design work shifts the viewer's limited third-person perspective by putting them into a first-person  view through the sharing of three personal stories. With this understanding, it is important for parents to understand how to handle this delicate situation for their children, and the Limited Third booklet has recommended actions for those at a loss for how best to approach the situation.
